The advent of social networks like Facebook, twitter, MySpace etc. have further expose an average African’s inferiority complex in his/her subconscious regardless of his/her level of education and exposure. The latest names spelling swagger is one of results of this exposure. There’s this inner feeling that it has to be western. This is evil under the sun. The swagger revolution brought into names spelling is evil and misleading, it is uncalled for, it is inferior.
Why won’t a
‘Charles’ spell his name as ‘Shals’? He
won’t because he’s proud of who he is and what he is and where he is.
I find it very
disturbing to see a beautiful name like ‘Oluwaseun’ which means ‘Thank God’ been written as ‘Holuwershehun’…
the fact is that the later has no meaning, its longer and its senseless. I am
also convinced that God has no record for such name. Sometimes, you find it
very hard to read a certain name on facebook.
